Faithfulness

Numbers 6:24-26
The LORD bless you
and keep you;
the LORD make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
the LORD turn his face toward you
and give you peace.

God is so faithful to us even when sometimes we don't deserve it, in turn we should be faithful to Him. I looked up the definition of faithfulness:

Adhering firmly and devotedly, loyal, to a person, cause or idea....worthy of trust or belief, reliable....consistent with truth or actuality....steadfast....staunch ally, an unshakable attachment or allegiance.

In other words God is so in love with you He's stuck himself to you with extra strong super glue so nothing can tear Him away from you!

Our only response to that can be to be faithful back. Be faithful to His calling, His promises, and His message. In chapter 2 of Luke we read about Mary and Joseph as they find out Mary is pregnant with Jesus, and the shepherds listen to the angels.

They were faithful to God's calling.
Joseph was still faithful to God's calling despite probably been ridiculed, and gossiped about that his soon to be wife had gotten herself pregnant before marriage. Joseph doubted. He planned to divorce her quietly, but he was faithful when God asked him to step up and carry out His plan.

They were faithful to God's promises.
Mary believed what God had told her was to happen, she treasured them them up and pondered on them in her heart. We also know she doubted too. 'How can this be Lord?'

They were faithful to God's message.
The shepherds believed the angels and went to find Jesus, just as the angels had said. It was the middle of the night, they had sheep to look after, yet they went immediately. It was dark, it was easier to lose sheep, they could have waited till morning, after all it was a baby the were going to see, He would still be there!

All through the Bible we see people of faith, but notice how they also face at least a tiny bit of doubt with it. This is human. It's OK to be a 'doubting Thomas' but hold onto God's promises because He is faithful.
